Since she was the only girl, Liv’s mother encouraged her to learn ballet and other forms of dance as a child. While she pursued these activities with an athletic determination, Liv mostly preferred competing and roughhousing with her older brothers. She was fiercely protective of her two youngest brothers, mostly the one closest to her in age. Liv was sworn in as a Police Officer in 1986, and worked through the ranks from inspector to deputy chief. During her career she's served as an Academy training officer and instructor, grant writer, narcotics investigator, and commanding officer. Liv was very unsatisfied with the chief of police before Gloria Zumarraga took over the position and she’d been working her ass off to replace him for the past couple of years. It was pretty aggravated when Gloria got the position, even if she was better than her predecessor. As bothered as Liv was, she never wished ill upon the woman. After Gloria's death Liv became acting chief in Tampa. (Soon to be permanant chief of police). Zoe married Wash sometime after he joined the crew as their pilot and lost him in a run from Reavers on the way to Miranda.
